It’s good to live in the 702. Now it just got a little better.  Select Wolfgang Puck restaurants in town are now offering Las Vegas locals 20% off their bill with the presentation of a Nevada I.D. from now through September 30, 2010.  The deal is good at Spago at the Forum Shops in Caesars Palace, Lupo at Mandalay Bay, CUT at the Palazzo, Postrio at the Venetian and the sort of new Wolfgang Puck Cucina & Pizzeria at Crystals in CityCenter.

Fathers Day approaches and restaurants are gearing up with specials.  Two of note thus far is a special menu planned at the Hofbräuhaus that includes a Goulash Soup with Pretzel Croutons and a Cordon Bleu of a breaded and fried pork cutlet stuffed with Black Forest Ham and Swiss Cheese.

Should you want to give Dad the gift of scantily clad, surgically enhanced women (the gift that keeps on giving), then Tao and Lavo at The Venetian and Palazzo respectively are each offering $75 4-course menus of food made much more palatable by the view.

If soccer is your thing, or if you can at least put up with it for good cheap food, then head to Dos Caminos at the Palazzo where they will be running Happy Hour specials anytime a World Cup game is on during business hours.  Some items of note are the fresh made Guacamole, the Chorizo and Chile Quesadilla & Crab Stuffed Jalapeño Poppers all at $8 each. You can wash them down (and make soccer much more enjoyable) with Dos Equis Lager and Ale for $4 and El Camino and Frozen Margaritas for $6.

This week, the second Las Vegas location of the much talked about Smashburger opens up on the corner of Sahara & Ft. Apache. That’s all I have to say about that.

As Las Vegas is still reeling from the public uninvited penetration from Jay Rayner to our beloved Chef Rick Moonen on Top Chef Masters, our eyes now turn to good ol’ regular Top Chef as our Chef Stephen Hopcraft of Seablue at the MGM Grand gets his shot at reality TV show glory.  Check your local listings…and for god’s sake…please don’t spoil it on Twitter!

  • I’ve eaten at a couple of places with Pucks name on them and haven’t cared for one.

Hofbräuhaus though…I’ve been wondering if my buddy-who-is-about-to-be-a-daddy’s wife will let me drag him out of the house for a much needed late pregnancy, about to be post, outing.

  • I don’t think anything will ever blow you away at a Puck restaurant (except maybe CUT), but I’ve found his restaurants to all have solid food with great service (except Spago foodwise).

I love the Hofbräuhaus! I think it’s by far one of the most over-harshly criticized places in town.

  • Maybe…

I haven’t been to Hofbräuhaus since October ’08. It used to be on my old lunch crews regular circuit. I should get it back in the loop.

FYI, I googled Naked City to send a link to some people as a lunch suggestion tomorrow. You were the 4th result.
