THIS JUST IN: Market Café Vdara To Open March 1st, Silk Road To Close March 8th

R.I.P. Silk Road, You Will Be Missed...at least by yours truly....

R.I.P. Silk Road, You Will Be Missed...at least by yours truly....

Boo!  The much speculated closing of Silk Road at the Vdara resort at CityCenter is finally coming to fruition.  I’m bummed.  It was a fabulous restaurant in a horrible location; horrible location meaning the Vdara resort.  However, before its closure, the much anticipated Market Café Vdara is scheduled to open on March 1st.  Finally, the so-called residentially-friendly CityCenter is going to have a grocery store. Who woulda’ thunk?!?  Market Café Vdara will also offer a coffee bar, sandwiches, frozen yogurt, crepes and pastries.  With sensational Chef Martin Heierling still at the controls of Vdara’s Food and Beverage department, the Market Café will certainly not suck.

According to the message sent out just moments ago, all 27 employees of Silk Road will be offered to transfer within the company.  Here’s to hoping that Silk Road, a fabulous concept with fabulous food, will someday find a home in a more well-traveled area. And here’s to hoping Vdara actually can someday be that more well-traveled area.  Anybody sick and tired of this economy yet?

Went to Silk Road on Saturday for breakfast, and they had scaled down their scaled-down menu quite a bit. Four of us had to wait 15 minutes for a table when the restaurant was 25% full. Annoying. Still really good, but annoying. Good riddance. I would like to put the funky couches in my living room though.
